Business in Mapleton Lines a Single Highway
Mapleton's General Plan calls US-89 the city's "sole regional roadway," and I-15 never touches the city. Commercial use totals about 22 acres along that highway, with a large industrial site at the south edge beside it and a large commercial project approved on the east side of US-89 near US-6. A 2015 economic plan calls for a town center at US-89 and West Maple Street.
Growth is pressing on that small base. Mapleton grew 8.9% from 2024 to 2025 by the Utah Population Committee's count, and the City Hall built in 2005 for about 7,000 residents now serves close to 18,000. When a business opens in a building that has had other owners, keys from every earlier occupant may still be around, and a rekey on day one settles the question.
In a business district this size, commercial work is practical: a rekey when an employee leaves, a sturdier deadbolt on a back door, a closer that no longer pulls a door shut, or a lockout at opening time.
