Art City Emergencies: Historic Homes, Hobble Creek, and the West Side
Springville's National Register historic district covers about 500 acres, roughly between 400 North, 800 South, 400 East, and 400 West, with 1,260 primary buildings. Census data shows 16.3% of the city's homes were built before 1960. Doors on houses that age have often been planed, rehung, or fitted with a deadbolt decades after the original lock, and when a bolt drags or a latch stops catching, the door can't be secured. We work around original trim and glass, not through it.
Up Hobble Creek Canyon, the city runs Jolley's Ranch, Kelly's Grove, and Rotary Park, with pavilions open May through September and 54 campsites at Jolley's Ranch Campground. Keys locked in a car or camper at a campsite are a different problem than in town, so tell us the park and site number when you call. Closer to town, the reservoir and sandy beach at Wayne Bartholomew Family Park are another place keys end up locked in a car.
West of I-15, emergencies shift to storefronts at the Smith's Marketplace center at 400 S 1200 W, commercial and industrial buildings along the freeway, and new homes in the Westfields growth area. The Dry Creek Parkway interchange at 1600 South opened in partial form in July 2026, giving the south end of town another way on and off I-15.
