Licensing, ID, and How to Vet Any Locksmith
Utah does not issue a statewide locksmith license. The Associated Locksmiths of America lists 13 states that license locksmiths, and Utah is not one of them, although individual cities can set their own business and locksmith licensing rules. That makes the basics more important. Before you let anyone work on your locks, including us, it is fair to ask for:
- The legal business name and a local address you can verify on a map.
- A total price, or a clear range with the reasons it could change, before work starts.
- An itemized invoice when the job is done.
- Identification from the technician who arrives.
