High-Value Homes and High-Security Locks in Highland
Highland's General Plan describes "a family-oriented bedroom community defined by large lots, single-family homes, and open spaces." Census figures back that up: 88.4% of homes are single-family detached, fewer than 1% sit in buildings of five or more units, and the median home was built in 2004. New subdivisions such as Foxwood Estates, Sloan Estates, and Sunrise Farms are still going in under R-1-40 large-lot zoning.
If your home has high-security cylinders, restricted keys, or an electronic deadbolt, the emergency call changes. ANSI/BHMA A156.30, the standard for high-security cylinders, rates them for key control, drill resistance, and resistance to picking, so a damage-free opening can take longer than on a standard lock. Copies of a restricted key also need the authorization card or account that came with the system. Tell us the brand when you call so we come prepared.
Highland is almost entirely residential, with commercial uses on less than 1% of its land, mostly around Town Center and Highland Marketplace at 5300 W 11000 North. On the east edge, SR-92 leaves the city through the American Fork Canyon entrance, and the Alpine Loop beyond it closes for winter.
