More Drivers, More Keys in Highland
Highland is a city of big households. Its 2026 General Plan counts an average of 4.3 people per owner household, and 91.7% of homes are owner-occupied, the highest share of any city we serve. Nearly all of them, 88.4%, are single-family houses, and large-lot R-1-40 subdivisions like Foxwood Estates and Sunrise Farms are under construction or approved. More people under one roof usually means more drivers, more cars, and more keys to keep track of.
It is also a city you drive out of. Commercial uses cover under 1% of Highland's land, the general plan estimates about $709 million in taxable sales leak to neighboring cities, and transit is limited to peak-hour express buses with no rail station. When a household is down a car because its only key is missing, someone else's schedule usually gives way.
The easy version of this job happens before a key is lost. Fixr lists duplicate key cutting at $10 to $50 nationally; a key with a transponder chip also has to be programmed, which adds to the cost, and our phone quote gives you the exact number. A spare made while a working key still exists saves the bigger job of replacing every key from scratch.
