New Homes, Smart Locks, and Long Roads in Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs grew faster than any other Utah city from 2024 to 2025, adding 4,682 residents by the Utah Population Committee's count. Census figures show 94.2% of its homes were built in 2000 or later, and many sit in master-planned communities such as Wildflower, Legacy Farms, Mt. Saratoga, and Northshore. Hardware that new rarely wears out, so emergencies here start with a missing key, a door from the garage that latched shut behind you, or an electronic deadbolt that went dark.
Smart locks are no longer unusual. Parks Associates reports that 11% of U.S. internet households have one, and Schlage rates its Wi-Fi Encode deadbolt at up to six months on a set of AA batteries. Some keyless models, like Yale's Assure Lock SL, take a 9V battery jump at the outside contacts for one-time entry, and many others hide a backup key cylinder.
Car lockouts cluster at the city's two public marinas, where the South Marina at Pelican Bay draws anglers to its two jetties and ice fishers in winter, and at the Inlet Park trailhead at 222 S Saratoga Rd. Shopping-lot calls come from The Crossing at Redwood Road and Pioneer Crossing and from Jacob Ranch Marketplace.
