Mapleton's Big Lots Mean More Than One Door
Mapleton's General Plan calls its foothill neighborhoods "primarily rural," and the most common residential land use is the rural lot of two acres or more. Minimum lot sizes run from one-third of an acre to 2 acres. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey shows 91.5% of homes are single-family detached and just 0.5% are in apartment buildings of five units or more, so apartments are almost absent. Owners occupy 85.4% of homes, and the median value is $745,200.
On a lot that size, the locks add up: the house, perhaps a detached garage or shop, a storage shed, and padlocks on gates. Carrying a separate key for each is a nuisance, and it is easy to lose track of who holds which. When brands and keyways match, we can key the house, the shop door, and rekeyable padlocks to one key, or keep the shop on its own key if you would rather not share it with everyone in the house.
Mapleton is also growing fast. Its population rose 8.9% from 2024 to 2025, the second-fastest pace among Utah's mid-sized cities by the Utah Population Committee's count. Homes built in 2020 or later already make up 13.6% of the stock. Newer areas such as Mapleton Village and EDGEhomes' Harmony Ridge bring new owners, who can start with our Mapleton rekeying page. The small historic core near Main and Maple, by the Old White Church, is the older side of town.
