Big Mapleton Lots, More Locks to Think About
Mapleton is growing quickly. Census estimates put the 2025 population at 16,275, up 43.3% from 2020, and City Hall, built in 2005 when about 7,000 people lived here, now serves more than twice that. Census data shows 13.6% of homes were built in 2020 or later. New phases of Mapleton Village, a master plan of 641 lots, and EDGEhomes' Harmony Ridge off Highway 89 bring first owners who should retire the builder's keys before moving in.
The lots set Mapleton apart. Rural parcels of two acres or more are the city's most common residential land use, minimum lot sizes run from one-third acre to 2 acres, and 91.5% of homes are detached. A property that size often adds a shop, barn, tack room, or gated lane to the usual front, back, and garage doors, and horse and trailer setups are common. That means a farrier, a vet, or a neighbor feeding animals may need access to some buildings but not the house.
This is where a rekey gets more useful. Instead of one key for everything, we can pin the house to one key and the outbuildings to another, or set up a simple master arrangement where your key opens every lock and a helper's key opens only the barn.
