Vineyard Was Built Fast. Who Else Has a Key?
Vineyard grew from 139 residents in 2010 to an estimated 16,092 in 2025, much of it on land where the Geneva Steel mill once stood. Census estimates show 94.8% of its homes were built in 2010 or later, with a median build year of 2015. There is no old town center, so the risk is not decades of forgotten copies. It is the stretch of weeks before you moved in.
While a home is under construction, keys and lockbox codes can be shared among framers, electricians, painters, flooring installers, cleaners, and the builder's own staff. The good news: builders usually install one lock brand across a phase, so your front door, garage entry, and back door can typically be put on a single new key in one visit.
Most Vineyard households rent. Census figures put the renter share at 55.3%, higher than even Orem's, and a third of homes sit in buildings with 10 or more units. Another 20.8% are attached townhome-style units, many governed by HOAs. For landlords and managers of these newer complexes, rekeying between leases is the simplest way to retire a departed tenant's copies, and Utah City's first phase alone plans 450 more multifamily units.
