Pleasant Grove Homes With a Few Owners Behind Them
Pleasant Grove did most of its growing before 2010. Census estimates show 26.6% of today's homes were built from 2000 to 2009, and the city's 2025 population estimate of 37,773 is nearly identical to the 2020 count. Many moves here are into a house that has already seen at least one family, and the builder-grade knobs and deadbolts from that boom are now around 20 years into daily use.
Wear shows up inside the cylinder: pins and springs tire, keys get copied from copies, and the plug starts to drag. The NOAA station in town logs about 123 nights a year at or below freezing, and a cylinder that is already stiff tends to get worse in January. Because each lock is apart during a rekey anyway, it is the natural time to clean it and to tell you if one is past saving.
The town is older than its subdivisions, too. Settlers arrived in 1850, and the city's neighborhood map still uses pioneer-era names such as Old Fort, Little Denmark, Monkey Town, and Scratch Gravel. Around 13.3% of homes predate 1970, and doors that old often carry a patchwork of replacement hardware. With 34% of homes rented, rekeying between tenants matters in either kind of house.
