Why Payson Lockouts Look Different at the South End of the County
Mountain View Hospital, a 124-bed hospital at 1000 East 100 North with roots going back to 1914, anchors south county medical care. Hospital parking is a stressful place to find your keys locked inside: people arrive in a hurry, and staff walk out to their cars after long shifts. Tell us which lot or entrance you're near, and keep your ID handy.
East of town, the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway leaves I-15 at exit 248, follows 800 South and 600 East, and runs 38 miles, climbing above 9,000 feet before it closes for winter. Payson Lakes sit about 12 miles south of town, and Mount Nebo, at 11,928 feet, is the highest peak in the Wasatch Range. A car locked at a pullout up the byway is outside city limits, so give us the nearest landmark or milepost and we'll say plainly whether we can get there.
Back in town, Payson has one of the older housing mixes in our area, with about 9.6% of homes built before 1940, alongside new growth at Red Bridge near 800 South and South Haven Farms by Highway 198. It is also a car town: 74.2% of Payson workers drive to work alone, by Census estimates, the highest share of any city on our list. Onion Days on Labor Day weekend and the Scottish Heritage Festival in July add event parking.
